Audio: Ellie Goulding's 'Mind' Is Playing Tricks On Her Heart

I'll admit to having fallen off the 'Ellie Goulding Love Train' after her last couple of singles didn't exactly well, move me, but today I consider myself 'starry eyed' for the talented British vocalist once again as her new single, "On My Mind" is good...really really really good.

Whether it's about her ex, that little ginger hobbit, Ed Sheeran, or not, who flippin' cares?!, Goulding steps away from her usual pensive, EDM drenched songs and goes for a gusto-packed pop gem that is expertly guided by pop production sultan, Max Martin, and it's a good look for her to segue into the glossy makeover she's getting for her upcoming Delirium project. Set for release November 6th, Delirium will have Goulding working with other producing heavyweights such as Greg Kurstin, Ryan Tedder, and the twin bros of Disclosure, them and many more getting Goulding into the dance-pop groove.

What I like about this track besides how it fizzes and pops with brisk future bass and guitars, is that it's a different kind of love song where Goulding's heart isn't the one playing the tricks, screwing with logic, oh no, it's the other way around ("my heart doesn't understand it why I've got you on my mind"). Oh, and the lyrics are pretty catty too: "Thought that you were cute and you could make me jealous/ Pour it down, so I poured it down/ Next thing that I know, I’m in a hotel with you/ You were talking deep like it was mad love to you/ You wanted my heart, but I just liked your tattoos.”
